Redditch Association for the Blind
Supporting visually impaired people in the community
We are very pleased to be able to say that this past year has been yet another successful and wonderful year for the Association. Our financial position remains healthy thanks to donations and our excellent treasurer Graham Morgan.
Donations have continued to be received through various routes: Redditch Mason’s, legacies, support from local councillors, plus events such as Ukulele afternoon and collections at local supermarkets.
These kind donations have enabled us to continue to give our members a cash gift at Christmas, arrange parties and trips to the theatre throughout the year, a memorable theatre trip was All Our Yesterdays. I would like to thank Jackie Cornish our events organiser for her ongoing dedication to organising the parties and theatre trips.
These donations have also enabled the ongoing support of our twice monthly luncheon club and any outings to the pub for them. I would like to thank Jackie Cornish our events organiser for her ongoing dedication to organising the parties and theatre trips.
The Ukulele afternoon was repeated following the success of the event last year with just under 100 members, family and friends packing the Village Hall, for a truly pleasurable time, I would like to thank John and Kay Bradley for organising this.
The fortnightly luncheon club remains a major part of our activities, though Margaret Williams has now retired from leading this activity after many many years, your legendary puddings, cheerful, friendly and caring support will be missed by all, but a huge thank you for all you have done for everyone.
Nevertheless the luncheon club continues on with the gap filled by volunteers and committee members, with trips to both the Beefeater and the Rose and Crown, thank you to Graham and Pat for their input. Many thanks to the Trustee’s and volunteers who continue to make these events and activities possible.
I would also like to thank our Association Vice President Barbara Bakewell who continues to provide wisdom and support and to Jane Rose our excellent Secretary for keeping us up to date with events, correspondence and visits.
We will continue to be a positive force locally throughout 2025, providing support for our members and enriching their lives through reducing the effects of social isolation which visual impairment can bring.
Thank you again and Happy Easter to everyone.
