Redditch Association for the Blind

At a recent luncheon club we had a fabulous talk from Margaret Mountford and Hedley Brook-Carter: Reddtich & Bromsgrove Talking Newspaper which is a charity providing local news, sports news, events and quizzes verbally for people who are visually impaired, at no cost to the member.

It was really informative and made people realise how much work goes into creating the talking newspaper on a weekly basis.

There are multiple ways to listen to the ‘talking newspaper’

Boombox

A ‘Boombox’ can be provided, free of charge, which enables a USB / memory stick to be inserted and the talking newspaper listened to. The Boombox and Memory Stick are easy to use, but people from the talking newspaper will help new listeners until they are comfortable. Each week you can be sent a memory stick on which you can listen to the talking newspaper, and once listened to it can be returned to the Talking Newspaper charity in the pre-paid envelope.

Alexa

To listen on Alexa,  “Alexa, open talking newspaper’’ Once opened, Choose ‘’Redditch and Bromsgrove.”
